To Clip or not to clip?…

…That is the question.
I think it should be about the health and welfare of the animal and not what we think looks good. We live in a sub tropical climate and there are few breeds not suited for this weather. It is about making your pooch comfortable. All the new little designer crossbreed dogs eg: Cavoodles, moodle, groodles, spoodles etc etc need to have their coats maintained

  • Brushed thoroughly, minimum of 3 times a week.
  • Feet, faces and bottoms trimmed fortnightly.
  • Ears cleaned and checked and nails trimmed.

And we all love that cute fluffy look and start off with good intentions. Then all of a sudden, our cute little fluffy, is one big knotted mess. A big contributing factor to this matted mess we now have, is bathing without completely brushing out the coat thoroughly first. It is very important that all old dead hair and matts are removed before wetting the coat. It is recommended that every 8 – 12 weeks, you should get your “best friend” professionally groomed – whether it be a maintenance clip, full clip, coat stripping or face and feet trim – it is all about keeping your pet healthy and comfortable.

Haircuts, Puppies, Bereavements and more Puppies

Hi , Oh my gosh, its October all ready, and soo not organised for the end of year festivities. What a busy last month I have had. Yes, hair cut time and shedding out that winter coat for the fluffy and hairy ones. Ticks and fleas are out there in full force, so please be vigilant with checking all 4 legged family children and I guess some of the 2 legged ones could be checked too.  Along with all the new hairy pooches I have been lucky to meet these past couple of months, there has also been a few  new pups. I get  to play, cuddle, kiss, bath and feed biccy’s to them – and then give them back – God Ive got a good job!

But there is always a flip side to the coin and we have  said goodbye to  2 very big personalities

George and Jake – I would like to think they are in a good place now,  running, playing and causing havoc, pain free.

R.I.P.P.

Little Gracie  – Cavoodle was in for her fist clip  – and did very well I might add. IMG_0993 copy But, when I was finished she could see, which ment she could also see the camera and that was the end of the photo session. So you will just have to believe me when I say she looked gorgeous.

And then there is young Ziggy, this boy is one bundle of happy energy and I think he is even getting to enjoy his bath??

three up

Katie and her little brother  Bill – 2 Rhodesian Ridgeback pups – I think all the memories of having two pups at the same time are comming back thick and fast to their family. Ha Ha

We have Katie’s first bath photo’s  and Young Bill will be added next week  – hopefully if we have no more minor incidents!
